The Bible tells us that God is loveĀ (1 John 4:8) and that should really be enough to settle that question, never the less I want to reinforce that foundational truth with a few more observations. You can scrutinize things that you may or may not already know on the subject of creation here. One thing that we know existed before the age of man was the love of God between the two God beings.
Show me the love
Love is the key thing that existed before a dot was created, i.e. before the foundation. The extent of this love is revealed in the creation process.
Most of creation was a collaborative thinking. In most cases where we see God said...
in Genesis 1, God is translated from Elohim
but then in Gen 2:18 it is Yahweh Elohim
translated as Lord God
.
Furthermore when we look back we find that in Genesis 2:7
In Every place where we see Lord God in the King James Version it is translated from Yahweh Elohim and this a single entity not the plural as when it is Elohim alone.
Even if this Yahweh Elohim is the one who actually did all of the creating there was always total agreement on everything. There appears to have been prior agreement on creating mankind but the Lord made a special last minute request for woman to be a helper to man. It indicates a more personal attachment to the project from the beginning.
Furthermore we have that from the foundation He had agreed to die for us.
Another useful piece of information is that they were equal. In the beginning there was no Father and Son. There was no higher and lower rank.
Notice how frequently we are told this in Genesis but it is glossed over. Do a search for most high God
and see what it reveals. You cannot get higher than most high
and if you own heaven and Earth then what else is there?
Notice verse 22. It tells us that the Most High is YHWH. We also see from Deuteronomy that this is referring to YHWH or the Lord, the same one who who became Christ.
Then of course we have John 1. John supports that there was no Father and Son at the beginning so to distinguish he calls one the Word.
So we have a situation where there are two equal beings at the dawn of mankind but one had an extra special attachment. He willingly gave His life for mankind. Nobody forced Him.
Furthermore He willingly demoted Himself to a new relationship of son and became the first brother; instead of the parallel relationship at the top we now have a pyramid.
This demonstrates amazing love by a standard that is completely foreign to mankind. One person submits and gives up everything for the other's happiness and in return the other sets Him above everything that He has. True love has a dimension of confidence. The Son had the confidence in the Father to do this and the Father had the unselfishness to give it all back so for all practical purposes they are once again equal. They out do each other in love. These are people that are precious to each other. How do you become like that? This is absolutely unselfish love by both that had to be there for a very long time. What would it take for you to willingly suffer to this degree for someone and then give them the pre-eminence? What kind of person would you go to that extreme for?
Anyhow, If you are perfect (the embodiment of love and goodness) and you want to give someone whom you love dearly the best thing that you can offer then what do you do? You give them more of you!
